BIBLICAL COUNSELING

Real Solutions to Real Issues.

Life can be challenging.  People deal with anger, anxiety, fear, depression, stress, addiction, doubt, marriage difficulties, bitterness, and family issues. These are real problems that people face.  Thankfully these are also problems the Bible has answers to.

The purpose of the Biblical Counseling Ministry at PSBC is to offer hope and help to hurting people through the gospel of Jesus Christ.  Biblical counseling addresses problems through the lens of Scripture and provides practical steps so you can experience lasting change.

Jesus said in John 10:10: “I came that they may have life and have it abundantly (ESV).”  Sometimes we may know what God’s Word says but we are unsure how to apply it to our problem so we can experience that abundant life.

That’s where biblical counseling can come in.  Like intensive discipleship, a biblical counselor comes alongside you as you study Scripture in light of your problem.  The goal is victory in your problem areas as you seek to live a life pleasing to God.

So, whatever you are facing, there is HOPE.  God has answers.  Change can happen. Biblical counseling can help.

    • Counsel based on the Word of God

    • Seeks to deal with root issues; not just symptoms

    • Teaches you how to apply Scripture to your problem

    • Helps you grow in your walk with God

    • Involves weekly homework/assignments

    • PSBC offers Biblical counseling free of charge to both members of the church and the community.

    • Are you ready to address the real issues?

    • Are you willing to change?

    • Are you committed to finding and implementing truth?

    • Do you believe God’s Word is truth?

    • While you do not have to already be a Christian to come to biblical counseling, our counseling is based on the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  Our primary focus for unbelievers would be to address their greatest problem…their need for a Savior.  Because of Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection, they can have peace with God.  It is only after this foundational decision is made that one can begin to grow in their relationship with Christ.

  • At this time, PSBC only has a female counselor available, so we are only able to offer counseling to women. But we have strong partnerships in place to provide counseling for men.

  • We counsel individuals in the areas of (but not limited to):

    • anger

    • depression

    • anxiety

    • fear

    • guilt

    • bitterness

    • stress

    • relational conflict

    • The first meeting usually takes 60-90 minutes

    • Typically, subsequent meetings last about an hour once a week

    • Biblical counseling meetings typically occur over an 6-10 week period

  • Counseling sessions times are scheduled based on the availability of both the counselor and counselee.  Once a time is established, you will meet each week at that time.
